Who is Pen?

Pen

Dear Pennies & Pens,

I am a 20-something Ohio native who moved to NYC in July of 2008 after graduating from Hampton University. I moved to NYC with no job, money, or place to live. Everyone thought I was crazy but I was determined to make something of myself in “the concrete jungle where dreams are made of”. By Sept of 2008, I had settled into my apartment on #158andbroadway (follow the hashtag to learn more) and I was excited to be living in NYC although I still hadn’t found my niche.

By the end of 2008, I had made my entry into the blogosphere with the now defunct site, The Loudest Pen Ever which was about 80s & 90s Hip-Hop and R&B. Then almost two years ago, I started this site, de la Pen because I wanted to write about fashion. In between all this, I held a other positions such as the Branding Coordinator and Contributing Writer to Urbane Perspective Magazine, an Admin. Asst. for a non-profit, and I was even a cashier at an NYC restaurant.

My unique background has taught me the value of hard work, how to manage my time, and how to build a strong online brand presence. Currently, I am a Digital & Social Media Publicist, Fashion Blogger, and Co-Owner of The Network. How I find time to juggle all these tasks is nothing short of a miracle from Sweet Baby Jesus. If you follow me on Twitter, @LoudPen, you’ll see in my bio all the names I go by and my declaration that I am the Jay-Z of Fashion & Music Public Relations and Blogging.

I love Jay-Z and I think his career is unparalleled so I’m seeking to create buzz the way he does, build numerous successful businesses, and work on as many projects as possible just like Jay. In essence, Allow me to reintroduce myself: My name is LoudPen. de la Pen. Pen. Penny. LP. Penny Pen. QuietPen…The Jay-Z of Fashion & Music Public Relations & Blogging.

And there it is. de la Pen…All Pen Everything.
