Dear Pennies & Pens,
For this week’s, Tuesday’s Stylish Thoughts, I decided to feature my favorite rapper of all time, Jay-Z. For anyone that knows me in real life or follows me on Twitter, you know how deep my love for Jay-Z runs. In my opinion, Jay is one of the greatest of all time, if not the greatest because of his longevity and consistency. Hip-hop was built to be a young man’s game and yet here Jay is at almost forty making the game bend to his rules.
Since the early 2000s, when Jay really hit the mainstream he’s been setting style trends all over the world. And not just for the fans of Hip-hop, Jay seriously has influenced men’s fashion. Before deciding to write this post on Jay-Z, I was researching stylish male celebs and there really aren’t that many that are consistently stylish. In essence, Jay stands out from the crowd because he’ll rock his black tee, sneakers, & jeans for the “all black everything” look or he’ll wear a clean suit for the cover of Rolling Stone.
And what about his overall swagger? A couple years ago, bloggers called “swagger” an overused term but I’ve always loved it and Jay embodies it in every way. His swagger is what gives him that style that makes him transcend his contemporaries. Jay has so much confidence and it comes out every time you see him perform, do an interview, or if you see him on a blog. He’s so sure of himself and that’s why everything he wears always looks great. It’s not always about what you wear but how you wear it.
In essence, I just wanted to share some of Jay-Z’s best style snaps with you guys. Also, check out this cool post on Complex.com where feature pictures of Jay’s overall style history. It’ll definitely be cool to see how Jay continually reinvents his music, his style, and his many business ventures. Like he said, “the only rapper to rewrite history without a pen.”
And there it is. The Fashion & Style of the Pen.
